A small country with a lot to offer any traveler, Nepal is a particular delight for photographers. Our van-based tour is kept small (6 guests maximum) so you will experience an intimate photo adventure through the splendor of new and old Nepal.

Each day will serve up a variety of sights and sounds as you explore temples and teahouses, wildlife and waterfalls, culture, history and mountain-filled vistas. You'll visit the mountain lakeside town of Pokhara, the birthplace of Buddha in Lumbini, before catching a glimpse of rhinoceroses and a vast array of wildlife in Chitwan National Park.

Your subject matter for this Photo Tour will include landscapes, astrophotography, street photography, religion, wildlife, Nature, travel portraits and much more. The scenery will leave you breathless and the memories will truly last a lifetime.

Day 1 - Arrive in Kathmandu. We'll pick you up from the airport and get you settled into your hotel. If your jet lag doing okay, we'll head out for some shooting before our Welcome Dinner.

Day 2 - Watch the sunrise from Swayambhunath Stupa, overlooking Kathmandu before exploring UNESCO World Heritage sites around the Kathmandu Valley (Pashupatinath, Buddhanath, Kathamdu Durbar Square, etc...).

Day 3 - Early morning Himalayan mountain flight to get a bird's eye view of the world's tallest peaks (all window seats). Afternoon visiting Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square. Evening sightseeing in Asan Market near Thamel

Day 4 - Early morning flight to Pokhara, nestled at the base of the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas. Visits to local attractions including the Peace Stupa, caves, waterfalls and a cultural museum

Day 5 - Today we attempt to catch the sun rising over the Himalayas with an excursion to Sarangkot. Afterward we have a variety of locations to shoot, including the Seti River Gorge, Barahi temple, and Fewa Lake.

Day 6 - Another chance for sunrise at Fewa Lake before we drive to Palpa for a visit to local villages tucked into the lush, rolling hillsides of central Nepal. It'll be a good night for some astrophotography if the weather cooperates.

Day 7 - A short drive out of the 4000' mountains down is Lumbini, the birth place of Buddha when he was still known as Siddhartha Gautama. History and religion are our subjects today.

Day 8 - Our full day in Lumbini includes temples, pagodas, monuments and monasteries. The city is a confluence of the various Buddhist practices and it shows in the variety of architecture and culture you'll experience.

Day 9 - We'll skirt the base of the Nepalese mountains, crossing many wide and scenic rivers on our drive to Chitwan National Park today. There are ample opportunities to stop along the way and stretch our legs on a short walk to experience Nepal off the beaten path.

Day 10 - Game drives are the plan for today to catch a glimpse of the regal rhinoceroses that call the park home. Open top jeeps make the photography straightforward and fun. With hundreds of birds, the ornithologists among us will be in heaven.

Day 11 - Game drives to increase our chance of seeing tigers and the plethora of migrating birds in the area.

Day 12 - Another game drive in the morning increases our odds of capturing memorable wildlife images before we fly back to Kathmandu and head to Nagarkot, a mile high in the foothills of the Himalayas. The panoramas from here are spellbinding with eight mountain ranges visible.

Day 13 - After a sunrise shoot from 6000' we'll head back to our last full day in Kathmandu. This will be a free day to get in last minute shopping or to explore new areas of the sprawling capital with your camera.

If you enjoy a mix of subject matter and locations, with the comforts of hotels and an air-conditioned private van each day, this tour is for you!

You will be walking each day to explore local attractions, but this tour does not include overnight hikes like our other Nepal tour. This tour is intended to be accessible to most any traveler with a spirit of adventure and comfortable walking shoes. As the trip is van-based with a few flights between locations, you can travel light and focus on your photography.

We take care of planning locations, hotels, transport (flights, vans, tuk-tuks, jeeps), routes, meals. You take care of getting the shots you want without any worries.

All skill levels of photography are welcome and we shape our instruction to meet your needs. Some guests show up having just bought a camera and need all the basics while others have experience but want to take it up a notch in an area rich in subject matter. Our groups are kept small (6 guest maximum) just for this reason; so everyone can achieve their photographic goals and gain knowledge in a world-class setting.

If you have further questions, send us an email or fill out our contact form. You can also give us a call at 818-284-6142 or Skype Explore.Inspire.Educate and we’d be glad to answer any and all questions about our tours.

The activity level for this tour is rated as Easy-Moderate. There is so much to see in Nepal and not all of it is available from the comfort of an air-conditioned van.

We'll take time to walk the local markets and explore backstreets away from crowds. We'll also have a few photo safari excursions in Chitwan National Park in open-top jeeps for a sense of adventure.

Other activities will include temple visits, short hikes (15-45 minutes) with ample time to explore on your own if you have extra energy each day.
